Rebuilding Lives
Bud's Warehouse Mission
A place where second chances help change
and rebuild lives to the fullness which God intended.
John 10:10b
The
Bud’s Warehouse Career and Life-skill Development Program
Bud’s
Warehouse offers a holistic response to the challenges that individuals
rebuilding lives face providing both practical skills and a faith-based
approach. At the core of our program is a belief in the importance
of relationships, community, and on-the-job experience. For instance,
instead of just training individuals in a classroom setting on how
to manage anger, Belay ensures life-on-life mentoring relationships
that enable the coaching of an individual through an actual workplace
incident involving strained feelings.
All employee clients of the organization are
enrolled in a three-phase job-training program that lasts 6-12 months.
Each phase has unique tasks and skills to be learned or refreshed.
The program is anchored by a daily 30 minute gathering where all
participants are encouraged to share their successes, fears, and
struggles. The program’s
primary success is in the area of “soft skills”: learning
how to responsibly handle the basic skills required by employers like
showing up on time, working with a positive attitude, exhibiting proactive
problem-solving skills, and displaying positive interpersonal relationship
to name a few. The program is rounded out with additional job-based
skills like learning how to run an inventory system, knowing how to
provide positive customer service, and exhibiting warehouse organization
skills. Upon the successful completion of each phase a raise is earned
as well as a certificate of completion. During phase three of the program,
we assist our employees in finding a job suitable to their long-term
career goals.

Eastern
University Study on Bud’s Warehouse
A recent study by the Tony Campolo School for Social
Change at Eastern University shows that Bud's Warehouse provides tremendous
value to the Denver Metro area. The report notes that every dollar
invested in Bud's Warehouse returns almost five dollars in enterprise
value and between five and six dollars in social purpose value. In
other words, donations to Belay act as an investment in the
community
producing increased social value in the future because of the enterprising
nature of the innovative program. More information on the study is
located at www.campoloschool.org/pdfs/BUDS_CSDesign.pdf.
Bud’s Warehouse supports Baby
Bud’s and the Good
Neighbor Garage.
In addition, Bud's Warehouse runs Baby
Buds, a career
and life-skill program for single mothers and operates a baby thrift
store. And this winter, Bud's has opened the Good
Neighbor Garage.
This innovative project repairs donated cars in an automotive service
training program while providing cars for a fee that is a fraction
of the cost to disadvantaged men and women in the community needing
transportation in order to work. See www.belay.org for more information.
